IAN TWEEDY

Hahn, Germany, 1982. Lives and works in Milan.

Ian Tweedy analyzes the relationships of subjects and subjectivity to the containers or frames that hold and reinforce them. Using otherwise neutral characters or situations he plays with the mind’s ability to load and freely interpret beyond the constraints of the subject’s original and seemingly black-and-white purpose. In his series “Arrangements of Forgotten Stories,” the delicate superimposition of nostalgia-driven imagery onto the pages and covers of found books leaves residue of conjured stories from the book’s own history.
